Current Opening: Civil Engineering Designer
Required Education and Experience
Engineering Degree, 2-year or 4-year. Equivalent work experience can be considered in lieu of educational achievement. This is an entry-level engineering support position.
Preferred Qualifications
Working knowledge of basic construction documents and exhibits; basic 2D AutoCAD; Microsoft Office; Bluebeam
Responsibilities: Coordinate and support the submission of UDCE’s dry utility application packages, track progress of same and follow-up to ensure movement forward of applications, manage partial or revised submittals.

Assist/perform initial project setups (5% of workweek, typical)

Review drawings and documents from members of project design team to ensure design consistency and accuracy and ensure compliance with PG&E’s Greenbook standards and other appropriate agency standards and requirements. Report conflicts to project Senior Engineering Designer (20%)

Review redlines and drawings from utility agencies and recommend revision as needed. Coordinate supporting project dry utility documentation for completion and submission to PG&E, AT&T, Comcast, DTPS, and other agencies. (10%)

Revise UDCE drawings after review with project Senior Engineering Designer to ensure compliance with PG&E’s Greenbook standards and other appropriate agency standards and requirements using AutoCAD or Bluebeam (10%)

Review and edit associated project documentation (exhibits, markups, spreadsheets, etc.) under direction of project Senior Engineering Designer (10%)

Prompt Project Managers and Senior Engineering Designers to contact client design team for updates/follow-ups as needed (10%)

Assemble and submit approved dry utility application packages to the appropriate agency. Track project deadlines and support compliance (15%)

Attend project meetings, conference calls, site visits and pre-construction meetings on approval of Project Manager. Prompt appropriate reviews and track deadlines for needed updates and correspondence (5%)

Provide additional support for engineering administrative tasks, including, but not limited to, filing and backchecking project folders (15%)

Maintains positive and productive relationships with all internal staff and team members
