Mid-To-Senior Level Civil Engineer

We're looking for a mid-to-senior level, registered Civil Engineer for our San Francisco office. This is a leadership position within UDCE as Director of Civil Engineering/Stormwater Management Services. The ideal candidate would:

  • Handle new business, from proposal-level coordination and discussion, through all phases of designing and documenting a project, before ending with construction administration and project closeout.

  • Create and administer solid and profitable workflows for the company, while mentoring existing and new staff to accommodate ongoing growth, both in projects and revenues. 

  • Demonstrate a proven record of reliability and delivering projects on time, and on budget.

  • Demonstrate a proven track record of successfully managing technical teams.

  • Embrace a client-facing position.

Job Description
This full-time mid-to-senior level California-registered Civil Engineer would be based out of either our San Francisco or Oakland offices.  This candidate would be expected to lead our civil engineering and stormwater management practices and implement industry best-practices for project management


  • B.S. in Civil Engineering or related field; 8+ years' experience in a civil engineering firm.

  • Ability to execute projects and handle clients successfully with limited supervision.

  • Skilled in current versions of AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Word, Excel, Windows and Adobe Acrobat or Bluebeam programs and be able to efficiently execute projects.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple direct reports and possess a high desire to mentor newer engineering staff in technical knowledge and career development areas.

  • Able to work with computers and digital resources; able to manage files and folders, comfortable with all facets of the use of technology to enhance the efficient delivery of successful engineering projects.

  • Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills; ability to work collaboratively with internal and external team members; ability to build and maintain strong relationships with employees, clients, and vendors.

  • Relevant experience with Division of State Architects and local government processes.

  • Stormwater management (C.3, SFPUC, SWPPP) experience, also desired.

Range $125,000 to $175,000 per year, dependent on experience, knowledge, and performance.
