Current Opening: Civil Engineering Designer

 

Required Education and Experience

Engineering Degree, 2-year or 4-year. Equivalent work experience can be considered in lieu of educational achievement. This is an entry-level engineering support position.

 

Preferred Qualifications

Strong CAD fluency (2D AutoCAD); Microsoft Office; Bluebeam; Working knowledge of basic construction documents and exhibits

 

Responsibilities: Coordinate and support the submission of UDCE’s dry utility application packages, track progress of same and follow-up to ensure movement forward of applications, manage partial or revised submittals.

  • Extensive use of CAD to create and edit Construction Documents and Exhibits, most commonly Joint Trench Intents. Coordinate across multiple design disciplines in accordance with design standards of various agencies and municipalities. Prepare and support the submission of UDCE’s dry utility application packages, track progress of same and follow-up to ensure timeliness of delivery; manage partial or revised submittals. High reliability, responsiveness, consistency, and collaborative communication with the team is required.

  • Review drawings and documents from design team to ensure consistency, accuracy and compliance with PG&E’s Greenbook standards and other appropriate agency requirements.

  • Review redlines and drawings from utility agencies and collaborate with Senior Engineers on required revisions. Revise to ensure compliance with utility standards using AutoCAD or Bluebeam. Coordinate supportingdocumentation for submission to PG&E, AT&T, Comcast, and other utility agencies.

  • Assemble and submit approved dry utility application packages to the appropriate agency. Track project deadlines and support compliance

  • Attend project meetings, conference calls, site visits and pre-construction meetings on approval of ProjectManager. Prompt appropriate reviews and track deadlines for needed updates and correspondence

  • Provide additional support for engineering administrative tasks, including, but not limited to, filing and backchecking project folders

  • Maintains positive and productive relationships with all internal staff and team members
